Sometimes when my comp goes on standby.....

......it freezes and it won't start up again so I have to put it off by the wall. Can anyone tell me what's up and what I can do abt it? It never used to do that.

    I run

Windows 98 (which runs anything not supported by win2000)

Windows 2000 professional (which in experience is stable as a rock compared to all other operating systems including windows 98, XP and especially ME)

    oh and i got

    Linux

    Unix

but forget about them, they are to advanced and highly unsupported compared to windows but make a much stable operating system!!!

Table of most often crashing operating systems in my experience (one being the one that crashes the most)

    1. Win ME
    2. Win 98
    3. Win XP
    4. Win 95
    5. Win 2000
    6. Linux
    7. Unix

I wouldnt bother using stand-by, much safer to just shut it down when your done! Ive still got little old win98 tis shite imo. Considering moving over to an apple purely because the multimedia packages are superior and thats pretty much all I use my comp for!

U could try this but not sure if it's the same problem.

Go into the bios and disable anything to do with power management
