    starting a new night!

Seriously thinking of getting a night going, but it will be in leeds. Got a venue but its only available on a monday or tuesday. quality place like but the chance of pulling enough of a crowd for the type of music that will be played is small. suppose you have to start somewhere. The music would be tech-trance mainly more techno'y than trancey and if my mate gets invloved, a whole range of techno electro stuff. it would be different from the regular stuff down here.
anybody got any good advice about this and what they would do. also anyone who wants to get involved giz a shout!

Who would want to listen to banging trance/techno on a Monday night?

Mondays and Tuesdays and always predominantly student nights, students, at the moment, don't like dance music - unless it's the klaxons

The last part of that statement is absolute twaddle imo.

Agreed Leeds does have a lot of nights that run but nothing 'housey' or 'techy' during the week. Basics and Technique hold big nights at the weekend. With Asylum, Technique and Tribal Sessions also having smaller nights.

Monday is a big student night down there but people go to most of the 'cheese' clubs cos thats all there is. Not too sure about tuesday, think everyone goes to baja, again, i think, because thats all there is.

Definatly some room for new stuff

Students off there face who have nothing else to do.

Most courses give you wednesdays off. Thus inducing the tuesday nigh session

Fair enough there might be room, but do people really want to go to a techtrance night on a Monday or Tuesday?

For that sort of genre I think anything other than a weekend night is suicide, but if you already admit numbers through the door are going to be minimal then is it worth the outlay?

    Good luck with it though.

Last thing I wanted to do on a Monday or Tuesday was to go to anything serious - it was all about the fun at Smile :)

I yearn for a decent night to go to on mondays.

Dance music can still be fun. Only serious if your full of nasties
