Stockton in the news HITMAN'S THUG FEAR AN EX-hitman who fled Ireland after the IRA put a contract out on his life says he wants to leave the English town he moved to because it is "too rough". Former loyalist gunman Roy Richmond, 45, claims he was attacked, his car vandalised and he has had £3,000 of property stolen since moving to Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland, in 2001. He said yesterday: "I'm getting out of here. It's just too rough." In the 1980s he spent four years in Maze jail after he shot Catholic milkman Walter Frazier. He recently served six months for assault. Police said Richmond, whose wife Sharon, 30, was murdered in Belfast in 1980, reported two assaults. But added crime in the area was down.
