The Future Of DJ'ing The Pioneer DVJ-X1 is an exceptional piece of kit, that will undoubtably change the way DJ's are perceived. Been reading the spec on the Pioneer website - at the minute putting it all into practice could be a bit of a logistical nightmare to set up and use, but with advances in digital technology and mixers etc I fully believe DJ's will be taking full control of visuals in clubs before we know it. Even Sander Kleinenberg is road testing the whole set up at Renaissance soon. Time to start dusting off all my video projects from uni I think....
true, but you know how technology advances - you'll be picking it up second hand in 5 years for fraction of the cost...
Been reading about this a fair bit recently, it should catch on well, I reckon I might have a dabble when the equipment is at a more suitable price for me
That's why you'd make your own on reflection software like VJamm is still probs the more user friendly - Coldcut are the dons of live visual/sound mash-ups...
I think in the majority of cases it won't catch on, but for DJ's who incorporate visuals into their sets it presents some real opportunities - eg. Corvin!
I doubt it will be those DVD players, after all you can get a laptop to do the same thing for 10 times less. A visual version of Ableton would be a lot more flexible than using a DVJ
These have been around for a good few months now like! I don't think it will catch on with DJ's....they have enough to be getting on with without worrying about doing the visuals aswell! Think about it...you will also need some form of monitor, a video mixer, a projector and a screen! Looking at thousands. Good for VJ's maybe, but i dont think its one for the DJ's. Decent bit of kit...but who's going to buy it?!
