Has finally been closed!! .... or at least it looks like it will be, it got raided last night at 1am, and aparently everyone was searched 1 by 1, the police then closed the club and most people didnt make it home til about 4am

Club closed after raid by police
A club has been shut down, and 18 people arrested as part of an operation involving 160 officers.
Police said the raid at the New Monkey, Pallion Road, Sunderland, was part of an operation into the supply of ecstasy lasting several months.

About 100 officers entered the club early on Sunday under a warrant executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The police are to apply to magistrates for a full closure order, which would close the club for up to three months.

No members of the public or police were injured during the operation.

Two 14-year-olds, two 15-year-olds and two 16-year-olds were among the 250 to 300 people inside the club, and officers took them home.

Part of Pallion Road was closed to traffic for about four hours.

A number of houses across the Northumbria force area were also searched in connection to the raid.

A closure notice has been served and a hearing will be held within 48 hours at Sunderland Magistrates Court when an application for a full closure order will be made.

tbh no i havent - i wouldnt cheapen myself, but i do know most of the dj's and mc's there, and even they are getting attacked by the scum who frequent the venue

ive been 2 or 3 times, around the time it opened. it is an absolute dive to be fair like.
thing is though, it has been raided a million times, and the papers are often printing articles about it being shut down soon. this mite not be lights out at the new monkey

not really, half the cunts who get in there are 15/16 and don't own anything else apart from rockports, trackies and thermal mountain climbing jackets. Hence them being turned away from any respectable bar. Let the bastards run riot in there council estates.

ok, if that is as you say and half of them are running around in sport/leisurewear throwing petrol bombs at the police, this still leaves the other half to go into town (wherever that may be) instead cos theyve got no place to go

I honestly have no idea. If you go on the website with the photos on it is absolutely unreal the people that are in that place.

Keep it open and keep them all in their for the whole weekend thats what I say.

Its a sea of stripey jumpers and bright red faces accompanied by the occasional flash of an oversized 'gold' sovereign. Well and truly hideous.

Its been open so long cos of loopholes in the law that have now been changed which means theres a very good chance it will get permanently closed
