    Travel Insurance

    Im trying to find travel insurance that will cover our camera and Im really struggling to find anyone with single item limits above £300. Even thats with £65 excess so if the camera did go walkies, we'd lose nearly £200 :eek:

    The Post Office offers upto £1000 single item but they want £120 premium :lol: ouch.

    Has anyone else done this before or can recommend an Insurer that has higher limits? Ive tried MoneySuperMarket and random people from Google. Sick of it :(

    Higher single item cover will always put your premium right up. Is that PO cover for a year or just ya single trip?

    Wayhey! £58 with £500 single limit and £50 excess. Thanks. Gonna read thru the policy when I get home but I think we have a winner. Wish Id asked in the first place now cos Ive spent ages looking lol

    have you checked your contents insurance???

    if its not covered as standard you should be able to upgrade your level of cover to include your jewellery, valubles and personal belongongs worldwide.

    Most travel insurance companies will not pay out more than £300 for a single item as you've found out.
    Your home insurance will however, if the camera is damaged you could just say you did it at home. If its lost, you're fucked.

    Your home insurance can include single items taken away from the home so you could increase your home insurance for the time you are away but I would be careful on the conditions as I tried covering someones 7.5K watch the other day and it would only be covered if it was being worn so I'd defo read the small print!!

    AA do cover in increments of £2500 total for jvpp cover....you have to specify any items over £1500 individually....but as long as its under £1500 they'll pay out full whack for whatever the item is....they arent twats like i've heard some insurers are

    It would never come to that.

    But if it did, you have two boxes for the camera body, and the lens right?

    Also, did you buy the camera with a credit card, if so its insured.

    Ditto with your holiday, if that was bought on a cc then you have a level of insurance cover.

    I wouldnt worry rach, unless you spent over 400 quid on it - then by the time you go on holiday, the value might well be just over 300 quid anyways depending on what you bought?

    My nikon d40 cost 330 when i got it, but its about 270 in the shops now, so it wouldnt be worth getting special insurance for it.

    Rach, remember you could get the cam and lens on ebay for 350quid. So we'd only be losing 50quid. Then all you need to say is an ipod or something got nicked. Bobs ya uncle.:eek: :wink:
