Vinyl lovers WHY???? GET WITH THE TIMES & MOVE ON! I used to rant on saying DJs must play vinyl but I have now seen the light after reading a an excellent article by John '00'. The only reason I would continue to use vinyl is if I couldnt afford a CDJ-1000. I would burn all tunes onto CD
Re: Vinyl lovers Too right, you can do anything with a CD you can do with vinyl plus a lot more.Lets you be much more creative
it's inevitable i think... people won't have much choice. but i still like the tactileness (sp) of decks and vinyl... CD are much more versatile and cheap... vinyl is expensive... BUT will the take over of CD's , especially copied CD's push the industry further and further into decline? less artists making money means less choice and quality...
i understand the benefits of CDs. when i can afford it i will get a cd deck. just cos i like havin stuff thats good, regardless of my ability . one simple thing that i find with CDs though, they dont have any worth to me. a 1pence CD holds no possesive value to me. it feels worthless regardless of whats on it. A brand new gleaming promo on vinyl does tho. it makes me realise how much i love vinyl in time i will mess about with CD decks, but at the moment im still too in love with the vinyl
No way, vinyl will never die. I had a cheap pair of CD decks and took them back. Ok maybes coz they were cheap and wen I can afford the best I will. However, I believe too much in the support of your Djs, if u like something they produce and wud play it out, u hav to support him for his hard work by buying his record. Plus the sound quality is much more pure from a vinyl. I wud just use CD dex for those rare tunes I cud not find on vinyl.
i introduced a scratch dj to a cdj800 the other day and his eyes lit up. they are the future. every name demands one. vinyl won't die, cds won't take over, but are an extra dimension to djing. best thing i did was buy my cdj800, just wish i could afford another 1!
Thats like saying DJing hasn't changed since the 1970s. As technology develops you have to move with it.Course you've still got to practise but there's much more skills available to practise with all these extra features available
Totally agreed. It seems that everyone's rushing out to buy the latest equipment when they haven't mastered the basics. Once you can do the analogue stuff (mix placement, mixing in key,set structure, reading the crowd) then you should move onto the digital stuff.
What I mean is, everyones sat in their bedrooms having loads of fun twiddling their effects knobs, and taking max advantage of the loop button, and totally forgetting what about structure of sets etc ps I'm not trying to be a bell-end, its just I feel quite strongly about this
how about if you can structure a set and mix well anyway, and stand there bored the rest of the tune...but along comes the cd deck in it's full glory and gives you something to do!
I am thinking about getting a CD deck soon, i wouldnt go out and buy a well expensive one like and probably settle for a CDJ100 cos from what i have heard the reports are good !
i just say been able to afford to eat lately so i've just got one 100 but i'm getting another pretty soon and just waiting till i finish uni to move onto bigger and better things, by then i presume the technics ones will be all over the place so willl get a couple of them!
Aye spot on, and that what the very best djs out their can do. If you can get the boring bits right (structure, reading of crowd etc), and then add in all the fancy crowd-pleasers (loops, effects etc) then your gonna be one hell of a DJ! Zabelia Roger Sanchez Tenaglia Digweed Sasha
