Visa's Anyone know if you need a VISA to change flights in certain countries where you usually require a VISA if your final destination doesn't need you to have one? I ask because my travel to Thailand is: London -> Omar Omar -> Karachi Karachi -> Thailand Would I need VISA's to enter Karachi or Omar? BEaring in mind im not really entering the country as such, just passing thru the airport. Ta
Not sure.. My instinct says you probably won't need one if you're not leaving the airport and just changing flights.
Depends on the airport/country - Places like america require transport visa's since their new fort knox immigration controls mean you have to be allowed to enter the country (then spent 45 minutes doing photo/thumbprints) even if your transferring to another flight somewhere else. Obviously as a brit we dont need visas in america (ahead of time), but some nationalities definately do. Might be worth checking if the place your going through requires a visa normally.
surely you just present your travel documents and you'll be issued with a tourist visa upon arrival at your connecting airport?
when i went to beijing we were toldmy bro could go on my dads visa as he was under 16 by the british embassy. when we got to man airport they wouldnt let him fly cos he didnt have a visa of his own. luckily we went to singapore first but had to spend 2 days getting one there for beijing so id check it out justy in case
Vises ruin lives! My m8 is barred from america for the next 10 years because he's been arrested before and had to apply for a visa before going to america (with me!) which involved travelling down to london, paying a £60 visa fee then getting told he wasn't allowed one, no refund of the fee he'd just payed to get a visa and a lovely stamp in his passport.
Cheers for the info everyone. I just rang the airline and they have confirmed I dont need a visa because im just "passing through". Phew!
