I wouldn't buy a second hand one at the moment as loads of dodgy fuckers will be selling banned ones.

I bought a brand new elite with Forza 3 & MW2 from Game for £199 on Tuesday. You could then trade the games in at CEX if you don't want them you'll get £27 for Forza and £31 for Modern Warfare 2 so It's like getting a 120 gig elite for £142.

Give me the RROD console for spare parts Shortee! Or if the console powers on sometimes and doesn't always RROD, take it to somewhere like cash converters, they will power test it and hand cash over providing it works when they try with no photo ID required and you show them any letter with 'an' address on it. Sell up and get as much as possible and put it towards a new 360 from gamestation or something.

Pike what sort of problems does your drive have? Is it just the laser that needs tweaking/cleaning on the drive or do you think the whole thing needs replacing, either is doable from my end if you want to use the console again.

How often do these things break?

I've had mine for almost a year now and given it lengthy none stop sessions or cod4, guitar hero and video streaming and it's been fine so far. The new ones are much more reliable than they were a few years ago. I suppose it comes down to luck, and how you use it.. eg. Don't cram it in between a red hot amp and a sky digibox inside a closed cabinet unless you want it to overheat and sweat it's tits off.

A few of my m8's have had RROD several times though, so who knows.

If you're not bothered about online play on the 360, there's gonna be a shit tonne of people wanting rid of their banned consoles now. Could get a bargain from someone local and then get the games for nowt.

if your desperate to play on one thats rrod'd then the towell trick does actually work 4 or 5 times before finally giving up the ghost. i got 9 or 10 hours of play between overheats.

theres a guy on gumtree who will repair rrod for £25, if he doesn't fix it then he doesn't charge you. or you could try fixing it yourself, it's not too difficult if your happy opening it up, swapping a few screws, washers and applying some heat snyc paste.

It just wont spin properly i got shit loads of dust out of the back vents with a hoover i think its just dusty

I have a brand new Xbox 360 Premium with wires etc (no hard drive or controller) for sale for £60.

Red Ring of Death occured so I sent it to Microsoft who sent me a new console instead of repairing it, I have the certificate from them confirming it as new.

If your interested in it let me know and I'll try sorting some photos out etc.
