Webcam not making use of USB 2.0 I'm on my friends laptop atm and she's just bought a webcam but whenever she plugs it in, a balloon popup says that it could be faster if it was using USB 2.0. The laptop is fairly new and in device manager, under USB, there's 'PCI Class USB 2.0 Enhanced Host ', and 'USB 2.0 Root Hub Device'. Surely this means the laptop has USB 2.0? How can I get the webcam to make use of it?
Re: Webcam not making use of USB 2.0 its musn't be usb 2.0, that only comes up if its just normal usb.
Re: Re: Webcam not making use of USB 2.0 hmm if it wasnt USB 2.0 the controllers would show up as 2.0... Strange one....still, webcam should be ok on normal usb!
Re: Re: Re: Webcam not making use of USB 2.0 I haven't used it properly but she reckons for full speed it needs usb 2.0. I thought I'd find out what the problem is anyway since usb 2.0 is needed for other hardware too. I've deleted the 2 entries in device manager cos I was on a website that auto detected drivers and provided links to the newest ones but it conned me at the last hurdle with a pompt to register for £30 How do I find out if there's usb support and which drivers to use? They're specific by brand I believe?
If its got 'enhanced' anywhere under USB controllers (device manager) which you say it has, then it DOES have USB 2.0! Drivers for laptops are usually specific to the brand so go to laptop makers website and look in the support section for drivers.... might be summat in there (you'll need the laptops serial number too )
