Good point - i assumed he meant dj stuff for some reason.

In 5 years..... I'd say its been more about evolution than revolution - everything we have now, hasnt made the kind of massive shifts that had to be made five years earlier say..... Things have just become more of a commodity and accessible to more people than exactly WHAT you've been able to do versus what you couldnt do before hand.

Cheap electronic components. They might not be the most exciting thing in the world but they play a major part in everyday life

not THE most important - but still, created a mini world wide craze :

ipods (and similar HD based MP3 players!) - not seen anything like it since the early walkmans of the 80's!

culturally mobile phones without a doubt, they've changed the way we live, and most of this has been in the last 5-6 years...

    broadband not far behind...

i'd say dial up had a bigger impact than broadband. 98/99 it all went mental when Freeserve offered 'pay as u go' style charging..... all of a sudden EVERYONE wanted the internet

Miniaturisation of memory space. Without it we wouldn't have flash memory, iPods, most of the features on mobile phones, useable digital cameras. Pretty much anything small and electronic really!

They hit the High Street about 11 years ago. I only know this because I was working @ Granada TV & Rental.

Those were days watching MTV all day long on Gosforth High St, listening to the likes of Haddaway,Ace Of Base etc
