... This day seven years ago as the World Trade Centre collapsed?

What are your views on whats happened since with regards to the war on terror/conspiracy theories/airport security etc, Discuss.

Christ i, a remember watching sum borin shit in science in school, so snuk on my "tape walkman" which had built in radio nd a heard it & told the teacher lol. So we sat for the last 1.5 hours of the lesson watchin planes hit buildings. Wasnt how i planned my science lesson 2 go like.

A personally think this whole war has been a plan from day 1, osama binladen is probably a face edited on pentagons photoshop  & they invaded both iraq and afgan for oil as the world cant keep up paying crazy prices for it. Was a leak ages ago, seemingly 3 years b4 september 11th, some1 spoke of taking down the trade centres and building sumthin more modern. But it wuda cost Billions to dismantle them - Not if u hoy 2 jumbo jets into them tho and blame black people from a poor country. Sumthings amiss like, its america.

    But who knows eh :(

( If i vannish 1 day, this will be why ^^ )

i was bunking off school helping me stepbrother move in, the first plane hit when i was walking down and watched the second plane hit when i walked in the door. i honestly thought that the world was beginning to end, like y2k had come a year late.

and here i am now, bunking off work 7 years later. with the same kind of uncertainty the LHC brings as y2k did then.

Was at work in Peterlee, feet up in the office, over lunch on the internet surfing about. Mate walks past "have u heard on the radio? a light plane has crashed into the 1 of the towers of the world trade centre" - "what a nugget" i think we said. Then, started seeing a few news reports appearing on the web so we wander into the tea room and put the telly on - then we saw the damage. Then the first shots of the plane hitting. Then, live we saw the 2nd plane hit - proper jaw dropping monent.

I think at that point EVERYONE tried to go on the web cause it just ground to a complete halt.

i remember the extended news that night, see those planes hit then the towers fall.

I'd just finished my daily shift of flyering for Promise, then I met my then girlfriend.

We were in Stype when we first heard about it- we rushed back to her flat to watch it all unfold on the news.

Likewise. My gf had rung me at work (Yorkshire Electricity just outside Leeds) to tell me about the first plane hitting, so we all went to the tv in the trading room to see what was going on. Saw the second plane hit, and both towers come down.

I think the most scary thing facing the world at the moment is the prospect of McCain winning. It can only make things worse. And don't even get me started on Palin.

Edit - Just remembered, when I got home that night my gf had realised that there was a chance her dad was on one of the planes. He was flying American Airlines from Washington to LA that morning. Neither her nor her sister or brother could face calling the info line to see if his name was on the passenger lists, so I had to do it. That wait on the line was the longest couple of minutes of my life.

I was at work and on a half day before it happened, someone told me what was going on and at the time we dealt with all over the world on our section for overseas pensions so obviously it was going to have some impact - if i was to be honest i didnt know what The World Trade Centre was

Anyways i went home on my half day and watched what was happening on the TV, it was fkn madness and hard to take in.

I think i watched Sky News and flicked thru all other channels non stop that night.

As far as terrorism or attacks go i dare say in my generation i will never witness anything like it in my life.

I was on my own in my workshop in Shields and heard it on the radio. desperately wanting to talk to someone about it and everybody I rang was unavailable. It was such a relief when I finally got through to someone and was able to share my disbelief and horror..

The world would now look completely different if Bush hadn't stolen the election and Al Gore had of been president. No stupid 'war' on terrorism no invasion of Iraq, no 42 day detention no guantanamo , no approval of torture by UK and US.
The reaction to it by the USA has been the biggest single factor in the rise of Islamic fundamentalism worldwide and has led to a meaner more dangerous world for all of us.
Terrorists are the only winners from this whole gigantic fuck up and 9/11 succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. We lost in Iraq and turned an unpleasant dictatorship into a total bloodbath and left an unstable potentially lethal state in it's place, we are about to lose in Afghanistan and create another failed state.

And if you look for the root causes of 9/11 and all that followed it goes back to the West's support for Saddam, the Shah of Iran, the State of Israel and the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan, all of them down to American foreign policy and all disastrous for world peace.

my grandad picked me up from school, and we sat listening to the radio for ages. Then watched it on the news! The school called a special 6th for assembly the next day to.

    Was very surreal.
