    so many djs / acts hanging up their headphones and / or emigrating permanently to other countries

    is it just they have become too old or can they not be arsed with the club scene anymore or maybe they are minted

    I know what you mean, but I think if you are good enough (read- popular enough with hairdressers) then you'll get a chance anyway. There's been quite a few names just started getting bigger over the last year, Desyn Masiello, Angello and Ingrosso etc. Even Zabiela a few years ago (although he rode on Sasha's coat tails for the first couple of years).

    IMO it has about 1% to do with how good you are, and 99% how much arse you kiss/who you know!

    Nothing comes through because when a night puts on a bill of unknowns, they dont get the doors, and promoters dont want to take risks of having an empty club too often.

    Its a vicious circle...

    Sasha step down!!

    He's been one of the only people pushing things forward in recent times - look how stagnant the trance scene has gotten for instance .... barely any innovation there.

    Like him or not, Sasha and his move to ableton has had an effect on the dance music scene for sure. I dont see how him retiring will improve things.

    Rampling was getting on a bit as well - i'd like to bet it was a combination of being tired of the travelling and the associated drugs/late nights and maybe losing touch with his audience that made him retire.

    Maybe he just got bored aswell. It happens.

    They have probably reached the limit of their creative talent. Tara Reynolds, she was hot.. made a couple of good tunes but she was never gonna be a long standing star in the scene :)
