    Wild in the Country cancelled

    Credit crunch strikes again...

Stately Events Ltd is extremely disappointed to announce the cancellation of the Wild in the Country festival at Knebworth Park on Saturday 5th July.

The cancellation is due to lower than expected ticket sales and a key investor withdrawing at the last minute, leaving the event in an unsustainable position.

This is a very sad conclusion to our passionate efforts to develop an interesting and credible addition to the UK festival market. Unfortunately, Wild in the Country has become the latest in a series of festivals that have suffered from a unique and well-documented set of market forces this summer.

We did everything possible to make the event happen and would like to apologise to all those who have purchased tickets, and for the inconvenience this cancellation may have caused.

The Organisers will make every effort to ensure that ticket purchases will be refunded.

    Awful news :(

We werent going in the end since i was doing Glasto and Glade in a few weeks .... but it was a great looking line up!

....... I hope to god that Glade wont have any of these problems since it isnt reliant on sponsorship and operates a little more 'community' like (in a way).

Cancelling it 2 days before is crazy, the the tents would have been up and everything!

Best festival of the year, ruined by the credit crunch!?? :spangled:

    Boo hooo hooo

I dont see how these sponsors or events Directors know only 2 days before that the credit crunch has affected them? Surely if you are relying on funding from a major Bank they would have said yes or no months ago?

Which leads me to beleive its merely ticket sales, keeping the event open until the bitter end incase of a last minute surge of late buyers, then when they relised there wasn't.... blame the credit crunch & cancel the event.

Whatever next, people finishing with there wive's / girlfriends cos of the credit crunch, DJ's cancelling sets cos of the credit crunch?

I think it's just a lame excuse for an event which hasnt gone according to plan as originaly planned to be honest.
