    Work Reviews

    Hey guys,

Im due for a review at work and I dont actually think Ive had one! Shows how shit my last place was. What kind of stuff should I bring up? My manager wants me to "put some things down on paper". How vague does he wana be?! lol. Do I comment on what I like/dislike about my job? Stuff I wana do, like courses? Plus, he mentioned what I wana do with myself. Well for one, there are NO career aspects for me here and two, Im looking at another job already to leave. How much should I tell him, without pissing him off?

This is probs the first job where I havent battled with management and that actually like and value me so I wana go in prepared and hopefully get something out of it but not bite the hand that feeds me with my future plans (which arent with this company) cos I dunno how much longer I'll be here, could be a while.

    Help :(

Don't tell them about your future plans (ie leaving), but tell them that you don't feel that they are using you to the best of your abilities. Think of training you might want, and anywhere in the company you could progress to.

I'm due one of these too pretty soon.

Just put forth the way you have developed your career and how you've moved "the goal posts" in what you plan to achieve in the future.

Take along examples of your work that you've done that has not only helped yourslef but has been of a benefit to others or to the company as a whole.

Basically.. anything positive you've done for your career or your aspirations within the company should be mentionned and backed up with evidence where possible.

I hate reviews... Our management always make them seem like an excellent chance for us to voice our problems etc, which we then go ahead and do.. and they just sit back, take notes on all our complaints, and do absolutely sweet fuck all about it. Total waste of time.
