    Working in Ibiza

Anyone done it before? Got any advice??

Next summer will be my last long holiday as I finish Uni and will eventually have to start looking for a job  I want to do something I may never get the chance to again, unless I quit my job, and fancy a summer on the White Isle!!

Jess - am I right in thinking one of your friends is working there this summer? How's she getting on?

The obvious one would be PRing, selling tickets, etc. Some people enjoy it, I think it's proper disheartening, and the money's terrible.

The earlier you get out there, the better choices you'll have of jobs.

That's what people have said. I'm fucking lazy as well so beyond consuming copious amounts of drugs I'm not sure I'm capable of the pace.

I'll probably end up whacking several grand on credit cards and just forget about working!!

A few of my mates are out there this summer doing PR and selling tickets, they have been making about 300euros a week but are grafting thier balls off and its shit work. But I suppose its better than doing a shitty dead end job over here isnt it

This is what I'd suggest. Or at least saving up some money and just forgetting about working.

I plan to spend as much of the season as possible over there next year. My primary aim is to get some work playing records, but I'll hopefully be saving loads up so I don't have to fuck about working too much. You don't get to enjoy the island properly if you have to work all of the time.

It's not as glamourous as it may seem. You're never going to get a residency at one of the bigger clubs, so you usually just end up playing the same records all day every day to a half-full bar of people who don't care what they're listening to, or playing to Spanish people (which is great fun) at night, thus missing the good nights at the other clubs. Plus getting your records over there is a massive chore, and the record shops over there are shit, plus tunes cost a fortune.

Still, I'll hopefully be doing it again next year

That's what I'm worried about - I don't want to make the effort to get out there, get a job, and then find I don't make the most of ibiza itself.

I'm swaying towards trying to save as much of my student loan as possible, going out for 3/4 weeks at the start of the summer, come back and get a job, and then go out for a few weeks at the end of the summer as well. This way I earn money whilst not impacting on my enjoyment whilst I'm out there plus I go at the cheaper / quieter times which tend to be better from my experience. If I get a job whilst I'm out there it's a bonus.

There's always Dance Valley, Love Parade and Global Gathering to keep me going during the middle of the summer aswell!!!

I defnitely want to go and work there next summer! I met loads of people who work out there...Katie has got a job doing laughing gas at all the big clubs for ten euros an hour which is pretty good to be honest...You can always do the usual jobs like PRing in the sweltering heat for shit money...

I personally think the entertainment ones look like a laugh. This boy I met does dancing for manumission

    :camp: Only joking

Is Katie getting enough time off to be able to go clubbing herself?? Did she have the job before she went out there??

I know what you mean though as the 2 times I've been out there before on holiday all the workers I met were sound. Also there's obviously a massive social scene within the workers aswell which is good.

It's good fun out there when you know loads of workers. You do loads of stuff that you wouldn't do on a holiday.

Jamie and Katie were both enjoying their jobs when I saw them last month. They get to the clubs enough (possibly too much in Jamie's case  ), but they're working in the clubs anyway, so they can still have a bit fun/jig about.

It's the first year I'veh eard of the laughing gas jobs on Ibiza, but the money seems to be canny.

Sounds alright definately....although I probably can't match Katie in the looks department so it may be dificult getting that sort of job

I think the social scene's a definate attraction as whilst I've got several groups of mates who'd come out for a week or so next summer, if I went for a few weeks at a time I'd be doing it my own I'd imagine. They also get some decent discounts etc I believe don't they??

You been DJ'ing / working out there for long then??
