Can you just back your anti-government bandwagon up a second there, and explain how either party looked as you described them?

As for the rest of your post, I suppose the whole 'prevention is better than cure' arguement applies to not letting a nation get too technically advanced in its military if there's a possibility you're going to have to fight them one day. That's the theory anyway, as I don't see how any American could argue it with a straight face seeing as they have a history of arming and training people that they've later ended up being on the opposite side of. Obviously it's a bit different in nuclear terms though- and I think that should be actively policed.

im not saying i agree with how it came across - but from what i saw from the media, the UK did nothing but insist that they were inside iraq waters (which i personally am quite dubious about) while tony blair served up a few soundbites that basically amounted to nothing

.... then iran just released these people on seemingly their own terms (although im sure behind the scenes something happened) and it was publicised as a 'gift'. Tony blair looked more shocked than everyone else and i just felt it came across as badly handled.

... back on the other point though - yeah your right and i agree to an extent that things like nuclear capabilities should be monitored. But at the same time how do we achieve that while our own nations can just think of endless ways to destroy each other using the most advanced technology available ... and this goes UN-monitored?

Iran should invite people to inspect their nuclear powerplants - but i think this should be something they do to prove they arent pursuing a nuclear weapons programme .... and NOT because bush and blair have forced their way in.

Its a difficult situation. We cant spend this century doing the things we did last century or its game over for everyone.
