There striking to get there hours reduced from 37 1/2 to 36 1/2.

They should get rid of the mall and put in the barrier ticket systems like London underground.

When you can cause so much disruption it gives you a powerful position to strike. When the civil servants went on strike a few weeks ago,I don't think anyone even noticed!

so jus cos they work as hard as anyone else (debatable for a start!) they should give into them and let them win?

na - no chance - they shouldnt back down at all to their demands.............

Thing is though, they *don't* really provide a good service half the time! I use the metro each day to get from my house (Forest Hall - my stop is Benton) to Haymarket for work. Plenty of times I've just missed a metro at around half 8 and there hasn't been another one due for 15 minutes, which ends up making me late.

And the strikes. From what I can gather, they already have better pay and better hours than I do, and I'm not striking - I just get on with it because my job needs to be done!

I don't see why I (and everyone else) should have to go out of their way just because a bunch of fuckwits can't get on with their job!

    (I have issues with the Metro..............:D )

I wouldn't mind them striking if they really got paid a crap wage, but when train drivers start getting paid more than nurses/teachers and people who really deserve the extra money.

It takes the piss a bit when all they have to do is push a couple of buttons here and there. True its a probably boring job but then, as someone said earlier, why do it in the first place?

Fairs will be raised or money from the coucil tax will be used to pay for it. It's actually 35 1/2 hours they are striking for.

They should be ashamed of themselves, I hope METRO don't fold.

Looks like there the first to jump on the fact that we can expect European working conditions. Our site in France only work 32 hours a week and gets 37 holidays plus bank holidays.

We work about 39 and get the European minimum holidays about 15+ less.

Added to the fact to make them redundant they get a years salary

It's cos of an EU directive, most places in europe only have a 35hr working week.
