Re: Re: anyone else bored shitless of indie/rock

I get what your saying but I've been to nights that contradict that...

A couple of weeks ago I went to one of bellini's nights... think it was kraut rock, psychadelic folk, prog and space rock... I didn't recognise one song... but everyone was purposly dancing extremely badly... my grandfather had smoother moves... but that started to piss me off more than when everyone stands around looking cool... These mancunian pretty people thought they were cats flaps because they could pretend they were bad dancers.

    Indie is too scene...

As for hip hop nights, not dancing is the best part... standing their nodding your head with your hood up while pretending your old dirty bastard never gets boring.

ignore the haters.... you make a valid point.

I used to love searching london chairty shops for vintage suits that didn't quite fit or visiting my tailor and getting a suit made from fabrics I'd sourced..... Now Bazza Smith has a nicer fitting suit than me and he got it off the peg in topman.com :(

Indie girls used to be prim and proper educated girls with taste for class a's and post-club intellectual conversation, these days they're ex-hed kandi charverettes with a taste for class a's and train lines.

    Genuinly love the music?

I've never loved any music mate, I'm faddy - since joining this board I've choped and changed musical preferences more than I've chopped and changed my hair... I get bored of one style of music very easily... I get bored of one style of night very easily... as a result I'm constantly trying new things.

It would be a bit boring if we listened to one musical genre all our life.

    was it fuck....

I was implying that the crowds at indie nights are shit.
I was implying that bands like the kaisers, subways, franz ferdinand, , etc. all sound shit.
I was implying that I've tired of the scene.

Drum and Bass will never hit the dizzying heights that indie has over the last few years... its not accessable enough...

Think indies going to hang onto its position for a while yet... dont see it going anywhere for a while, all the emo's are jumping ship, all the hairdressers jumped ship a while ago... theres too many people liking it.

Think dance music is on the up again.

The crowds are shit because everyones too bothered about looking cool now - its progressively got worse and worse... listening to indie used to be a geeky thing to do.

I never listened to franz or the kaisers!?!?!? I lapsed with the subways for a month... but that side of indie never appealled to me?

both of you have completely missed my point.

its a case that the record companies have swamped the market with a lot of cheap, generic and throughly boring sounding bands over a very short space of time who between them have the potential for probably less than 2 decent albums each before the dissapear back to the provicial shit hole they came back from.

record companies point blank refuse perfectly good bands contracts, not on the fact they won't sell records but because they don't sound 'kaiser light' ie. they don't fit the banal image of the cravatt wearing indie pop kids..

its not life and death? no, your right, but then something that could at least stir some enthusiasm would be welcome.. am I so far wide of the mark here?

I mean, if this overweight prick is deemed to be the epitome of cool by todays 'indie' kids, whatever dignity it had was left in a muddy puddle in Somerset sometime last June.

I think I just really hate the Kaiser Chiefs to be honest

no you need a ticket but i'm sure you can get them on the door. There are two differnt entrances for students and none students. At the worst you just ask some random to sign you in. It litterelly has every type though, house, hip hop, indie/accoustic room, drum and bass, electro etc....

plus they sell food and the drinks prices are cheap with it being the union.

you used to have to be a student to buy the tickets, but you could sign in guests... that might have changed now.
