Re: Re: Are you happy with life in the UK?

largely agree. I think we have a problem of negativity that is rife throughout this country. The fact is the VAST MAJORITY of people in Britain enjoy good education, healthcare, social security, culture etc.

However, if you read and believed the Daily MAil for instance every day then you'd probably believe this country was on the verge of collapse.

Yes, there are many problems but personally there is nowhere else in the world i'd prefer to live. I love living in england, simple as.

....when i retire the prospect of a villa in southern italy may be much more appealing though!!

Oh and people who genuinely believe we should repatriate all immigrants are utterly clueless.

Aye, im always banging on about the financial side of things for sure - which is a sore point for me....... but i guess its more for me about playing by the 'rules' with the whole education bollocks only to get to what people would say was yeah, a slightly higher earnings bracket only to find that its still not enough.

Living in britain is very interesting for sure and we do have alot of culture, bad and good - but its funny how so many of the people from europe ive worked with have all commented about the 'quality of life' we have for working longer and harder than ever ....

..... Or it could just be the monday blues ;)

Exactly - you would think it was against the law to even own ANYTHING these days - you earn money which is taxed, to buy posessions and build up something to show for your hard work to pass on to your children .......... only to find that half of THAT goes back to the tax man when you die .............. COMMUNISM!!!!!!!!

Its proper 'rent a life' these days - with pension ages rising, nobody will ever get a chance to work hard and retire because the only chance you'll ever get a pension is making it past your 70-73rd birthday ....... which is getting less likely as days go by .... just so the government doesnt have to support you.

Surely theres more to life than the latest mobile phone or ipod just to keep up with the jones's ................ howay!

I know the UK is expensive but it doesnt stop me loving the place 90% of the time. Beautiful countryside and us geordies are the only species worth breeding :)
