Mark I can 100% assure you that we have never tried to book either of those. You must have us confused with someone else mate.

I have made enquiries on only a couple of DJ's who have played Promise - Marcos and Petrae Foy...I didn't think this would be a problem as Petrae hasn't played Promise in ages and Marcos only played the boat. Oviously you have re-booked and that's cool...

Our #1 rule is don't book Promise DJ's (with only a few exceptions, Richard who played our opening night and Les, who is a mate of Scott's).

It would make no sense for us to want to do something different and book the same people you guys are! :)

Thats a good mixture, Cor Fijnemans been class both times ive saw him and ive been wanting to see Katana & Kai Tracid for ages

Dunno who Chris Davies is but be interesting to see how he does same as Gavyn Mytchel

The rest are just same old but will keep the punters coming in.

Im not really arsed about Armin for promise anyways though it would be good, I wouldnt mind seeing Marcel Woods, Ton TB and Marcus Shultz someone like that....Bring back Jon O'Bir again too! Never fails to impress :king:

I think Revel is right and you have us mixed up with Twisted! We know they wouldn't play for us so wouldn't bother even trying! :p

Ahh...my agreement comes to an abrupt halt ;)

At the end of the day, IMO, this whole "you can't book my DJ's" thing is bollocks.

How does it remotely affect Promise?

    Petty imo!

    /ducks

    PS - Yes I don't know what i'm talking about ;)

    PPS - It's still sad.

of course its not bollocks! If Twicted or Vuzz started booking Ornadel, of course it would affect Promise. Someone might go to Vuss to see GO, then like it more than Promise, then not go back to Promise. Therefore it has effected Promise's trade.

And if Promise went booking Andy Bauggley/Goldenscan etc now, Vuzz would be pissed off too.

most clubs will want exclusive rights to a DJ, within a certain area.

Defo - Promise have been very supportive...Richard even played our opening night (how many other nights in Newcastle does Richard play at other than Promise?!).

And with regards to exlusivity of DJ's I couldn't agree more with Mark and Revel. I wouldn't want other nights in Newcastle booking Ben Lost when we have him for 3 dates this year. It thins the market and at the end of the day we are supporting him and he'll support us in return. It's the same with Promise and their DJ's...some of them owe Promise a lot it's just loyalty at the end of the day!

some clubs used to have legal contracts to enforce exclusivity of dj's within a certain mile radius. don't think it is the case anymore though.

It seems todays clubber cares more about name dropping than the actual music and 'clubs' in general.

Its almost like a sickening version of globalisation where people support asda's and sainsbury in out of town greenbelt locations... while their local butchers and news agents go out of business - and then the same people complain theres no community spirit.

Likewise with clubbing, it seems todays average clubber doesnt give a toss about supporting what they have locally - but will move heaven and earth to go all the way down to birmingham to pay top whack to see Tiesto trainwreck a few records...

The past seven or eight years have seen the shift from people supporting alot of clubs and alot of dj's (promise and shindig seemed to have a massive variety of dj's on back when i didnt go ... ironically) ... to people basically supporting a few clubbing BRANDS and a few BRAND NAME DJS who lets face it... arent actually much all that cop if we were going to be fair.

Perhaps the only way back is if people go back to ruthlessly supporting local talent and local nights instead of chasing the latest DJ equivalent of busted and girls aloud (albeit with record bags and headphones).

One of the worse things about britain is that although we have this incredible sense of british superiority - we are absolutely pathetic as a nation when it comes to being protective and supportive of the things that really matter. These days if its not imported cheap chickens from holland putting our farmers out of busines, ... its imported dutch dj's doing the same.

Fair game, theres nothing especially worse or better than them compared to our own, but perhaps people need to have a greater sense of protecting what they have.... before it slips through your fingers and all your left with is Blu Bambu and Baja.

    IMHO.

First up, thanks and welldone to mark, will deffo be making a trip home to see a few of those deejaaaaayyys! :)

Even if we did have armin playing at promise, ppl wud still complain, thats life...

At the end of the day if people loved trance ( and the likes of) they wudnt mind which dj was playing and where he/she was playing either.....but as it stands people just like jumping on the bandwaggon of a good/bad or even up and coming djs and whether or not there 'any good'-me included.

Theres always gonna be some that make it big and some that dont.

    Happy days! xxxx
