    Torrents have legitimate use too (I do a lot of debian mirror updating to a home RAID array and thats all via torrents). Banning them outright is a bit stupid.

    There are always ways round this sort of thing too. What happens when people start using encrypted torrents, TOR, and proxies in abundance? The ISPs will be shafted.

    They have to remember that the driving force behind broadband at the moment is people downloading music and films. Whether that downloading is legit or not is another question.

    If they start imposing this kind of limit on their punters, they'll just leave in droves.
