Matthew Kelly chinning Frank Skinner about him and Baddiels peodo jokes on the Frank Skinner show was brilliant.

I think Skinner explained it perfectly about how comedy works and how the less fortunate can be the victims.

At the time there were stacks of jokes about the shuttle & Lockerbie incidents.

They were all scots and yanks. ;)

The main thing I'm wondering is why people actually find jokes about anyone's death funny?

It's just a really odd part of our culture.

If you tell jokes about other people's deaths are you saying it's ok for people to mock you if your parents/friends etc die (if the jokes are funny)?

Otherwise aren't you being a hypocrite?

im not good at making up jokes. you see i repeat what is heard, and i think the people who make up the jokes do have a "british" harsh sense of humour ie lets slate anything thats different. but when i tell them you take it with a pinch of salt. they are terrible but if i heard one about the railway worker i would probably tell it, but have that kindof 'eesh by gum laugh'. same as the chinese people jokes ive heard. eesh isnt that terrible but mildly amusing.

i mean for instance - fifty years after an indisputable link was made between tobacco and lung cancer we are still smoking - its cognitive dissonance - we have two conflicting vies at the same time - yes we can see the joke is funny but we also know it can be interpreted as racist, speaking ill of the dead ect.

I think they were a mix of UK citizens, legal immigrants and illegal immigrants.

I think no matter how grim and gruesome an event was and no matter who was involved, loads of jokes wold still circulate about it because tha's just the way that people deal with things...

I know that when something bad happens to me i (try and) laugh it off.....

too many horrific things happen in society today so we try to mask them with humor, it might not be morally right: but it's still done.
