that's the magic of globalisation for ya

Coca cola have massive plants in india where they have huge underground natural aquifiers of top quality water available. They take so much water that there isn't enough left for local needs, and extract at such a high rate, which causes turbulence, that what is left has a very high dissolved mineral content which makes it bad to drink anyway.

The black sludge residue from the production process is kindly donated to local farmers for use as a crop fertilizer. Unfortunately it's not a good fertilizer as it has high levels of cadmium and lead in it, but hey, it's a cheap way for coca cola to get rid of it for nothing  (source: Radio4)

The nice eco-friendly people at pepsi now produce bio-degradable plastic bottles for their drink products. gold star there you'd think?? Not really, because to achieve this what they do is collect the non-biodegradable bottles from recycling plants in the west, ship them to India where they are turned into the biodegradable plastic bottles, then shipped back to the west for use. Problem is that this process leaves a very toxic and very non-biodegradable waste product in India, so they now have the pollution problem instead of us. (source: Stupid White Men)

    twats
