    Age 26 - Nearly 27

Im not taking a shot at your apartment - Im bringing attention to the fact that unless we had the reform that the tories painfully dropped on the north in the early eighties then there would be no quayside flats - only shipyards and coal dust.

Germany has kept more prosperous, and WAS more prosperous thanks to a productive workforce able to sell high quality goods around to the world. In the seventies our unionised workforces were so inefficient that it was cheaper to leave coal in the ground, than it was to employ people to dig it out the ground.

In fact, it was cheaper to buy it off other countries.

The commments about capitalism having nothing to do with Thatcher are utterly hilarious - How could we have capitalism when nearly all the countries public services were nationalised, subsidised by the private sector and completely uncompetitive to the world marketplace.

Short sighted view on politics eh - How many other people on here do you spend time presenting a comeback to? ...... dont knock one of your best debating opponents ;)

You may be one of my best but just as I swear too much and have delusions of grandeur - you have a short sighted political vision.

But seeing as you enjoying playing with economics - I'll talk 1970/80's economics ;)

To suggest that we werent a capitalist nation pre-thatcher isn't the smartest of arguements so I'll skip that for your sake ;)

We read different history books/economic papers and it shows :D My books tell a story of Thatcher driving 3 million people out of work, crushing british industry, then riding out this wave of misfortune on the back of north sea oil... She was no economic miracle worker - she was a very stupid but fortunate prime minister.

We've missed out on huge markets in the wake of Thatcher, take export - you only need to look at Germanys export figures to emerging nations to see the potential business we lost out on.

The growth we've experienced post-thatcher comes from public-sector spending, a rise is in house prices and consumer borrowing... All of which you slate the Labour government for, but in reality they're inevitable consequences of Thatchers economic legacy.

The tory legacy is a very bad one, as western continues develop and grow they drove us into countless recessions, as the west made huge leap forwards in living standards, the tories drove the working class into poverty... The great achievements of this century can all be credited to a labour government... They look after the people... the tories have always looked after the rich.

Under a tory government I as an affluent business owner would probably benefit... but the majority of newcastle wouldnt.

thats less impressive - I could get a mortgage from £500 a month... renting a double balconied apartment with sage and baltic views is far more pricey ;)

    what a fine trumpet I blow ;)
