Ours is a nightmare, my student house is pretty big tho...our first gas bill was £433!! and our first electricity bill was like£300ish...total skinted me like!! But that was last yr, when we had this lass living with us who used to 'sneak' the heating on all the time!
Now its on a timer, its only about £150-200 gas and the same for the electric! :)

you can't teach an old dog new tricks, most people are too stuck in their ways to give a shit about something that seems so trivial..

they should teach stuff like this in schools, I think this is partly where were going wrong, we concentrate on English, Science and Maths but miss out on far more pressing issues like the environment, social behaviour, current affairs etc.

    what? old dog new tricks?

you're all like 20 - lived away from home for 5 minutes - and then with other 'like minded' scruffers who didn't give a toss. Once you own your own home and some serious responsibilities you'll think very different and see what young ignorant little cocksmiths you really are.

    true

a heating bill between 6 or 7 people in a sharing house is a wee bit different to a bill that you have to pretty much pay yourself

    Re: Central Heating

the bills should be split equally regardless of who used what amount of heating

    saves arguements

    Re: Re: Central Heating

This can encourage people to use even more, as they will only be paying a small amount of the increased cost.

Yes, the bills should be split equally, but you should act with some responsibility towards your fellow bill-payers and not selfishly bump up their proportion.

    Responsibility.

Yes, individual contributions may make only a tiny difference, but add them all together and it makes a huge difference.
