    Re: Childhood obesity

I think it's a form of abuse I really do. If parents let their children eat shit constantly they're gonna die an early death. They might aswell give them fags and booze!

Just wait til you hit your late 20s/early 30s. It does get you eventually.

To be honest I'd start trying to at least introduce some healthier stuff into your diet, and start doing at least a little bit of exercise. You will need a lifestyle change eventually if you don't want to get fat, and the earlier you do it, the easier it is.

My dissertation two years ago was based on whether or not ads like that actually work- that one was one of those I analysed.

I know that, I've noticed it going on a little bit already :p I have started trying to eat a bit healthier and tbh I enjoy making a little bit more healthier food. I've surprised myself more than anyone else by eating salad and potatoes instead of chips!!! I do keep intending on going to aerobics or something once a week which isn't relaly enough just for starters but it's just getting round to it, cos when I used to go I quite enjoyed it!

My mam keeps warning me though that when I hit a certain age it'll hit me and when I have kids although I'm not intending on doing that!

No it was your description of the NHS that I disagree with - I should have made that clearer. Anyway that's a debate for another thread

Apart from that I agree with what you've said :D

I was a bit large, but only for a few years. I was always really really skinny as a child, I was only a fat lad between about 15 and 17/18.
I like the odd kebab (although might I add that I like chicken tikka kebabs, not lamb ones), but at least I eat them in moderation, and eat moderately healthily, and partake in some form of physical acitivity. Everything's good in moderation, innit, but obesity comes from over-indulgence.

And aye, you're getting to be a bit of a big lad like. It'll only get worse with your new-found relationship status, also

as for poorer kids getting fat, dunno like, kids in poorer areas are often out playing loads more than rich kids who have all the consoles/sweets etc..whe you go to parks it's always charvers playing sports there, the rich kids are scared to go, there was loads of fat cunts at rgs, just rich parents hire dieticians to sort their fat bastard kids out

also you get bullied to fuck at private school if you're crap at sport/fat, i used to be a right cunt to the fat kids at my school, did them the world of good i reckon  , also the fat ones are made to play rugby so even if they don't lose weight they're much fitter

 proper highlighted at my school this. Our front row was just the fat lads who had been taken to one side by our rugger coach and begged to play.

I'm looking at it in terms of my school, and some of the shit areas around here. If you take Bensham as an example, there's a pizza/kebab/burger shop on every corner, and there's loads of little fat bastards running around there.

Proper harsh you like, Stu. Think of the amount of overweight public school children who have been mentally scarred by your abuse.

Try going to boarding school - you can't even escape from it at the end of the day.

This seems to me as the voice of experience, either as one of the woeful victims, or one of the nasty evil bully cunts. Which was it, Hedders?

Boarding school's a funny one. I think I only know two people who have been to boarding school, and both went to the same one (Ampleforth College). I imagine it must be very weird actually living at your school, but the education you get out of it is fantastic. It must be a complete nightmare being at boarding school if you're being bullied, though. No escaping from it in the evening, and the distance from your parents must make it difficult to talk to anybody about it, too.

Is it not just an arrogance/ego thing at RGS though? There's loads of cunts who go there who think they're mint because they have a bit of new money in the family and their Dad drives a Merc.

the government are doing something about it at the min... most schools will have no vending machines in them (sweet ones) and the dinnerlady's (that cook) have all been given new recipes/instructions as healthier foods are introduced, with higher fat food only allowed once/twice a week...

think its only at a local council level but quite a few local councils are actually making it compulsory...

they have had initiatives in place to deal with increasing the amount of physical activity for children for the last few years... they should be more but its a start i suppose...

and taxing energy dense/high fat foods wouldn't be allowed i don't think, as they can be eaten as part of a healthy diet... and then you'd be taxing fit & healthy people too... they should have a fat tax... everyone on the scales and paying by the kg :p

people are starting to take notice, theres been a 20% increase in the sale of functional foods every year for the past 2/3 years...
