When i say work is harder... i mean the generally 'work' as a lifestyle.

People get up earlier, commute longer and there is a general feel to the place that monday to friday is a grind until you are set free at the weekend. Its a different vibe the further north you go.

Get on any train on the way into london in the morning and you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who doesnt have bags under their eyes and look like they are trying their hardest to just blank everything out.

So by that - i mean that with alot of things in the south, when people go out - they tend to go at it hammer and tongs on a friday or a saturday, so they can take it easy on a sunday and get ready for the week ahead. It feels different when im back in newcastle - not inferior or superior... just different.

..... Its just something ive noticed since ive lived down here.

Commuting on the A1 or the M8 is no picnic either Brid.

All major cities are the same.

Just depends where you live/work. I live in the east end of london and work in the city. 10 minute walk

Yeah but how many A1 commuters go to trance/house clubs Craig :)

Anyways.... how else do you explain how alot of toon clubs seem to clear out at 1.30am while london clubs are quite busy right till closing?

I'm not sure - climate and culture I suppose.

It's not because there jobs are any easier, or the Mon - Friday commute is not as stressful. It's down to the culture of the area, the licensing history in the area has probably determined that.

There just aint the punters in the NE to support two major clubs, nevermind all nighters all over the area.

    Glasgow is the same.

    Re: Clubbing down south?

Have never been clubbing in London. Furthest south I've been actually is Birmingham, to Gods. Used to make it down there about once a month but I've become old and wizened recently and can't cope with train journeys when wrecked (as this morning's jaunt home from Sheffield proves!)
If I had some more dosh, I'd love to go clubbing then stay in a a swanky hotel somewhere tho
I've always wanted to go to The Gallery
