It's a risky business. There would have to be precautions.

    experience - yes.

    wisdom - no.

i'd increase your agreed overdraft - you'll probably pay less interest as long as u pay it straight off. Small loans over short periods of time have higher interest rates so they can make their money back, credit cards have massive cash withdrawal fees + interest - the 0% rates are for balance tranfers and purchase only usually

if you used your credit card abroad you pay loads in fees too... & shite exchange rates...

overdraft would be best for what you're looking for i think...

    or pimping.

OK. I'll go with my original plan of an overdraft. Now lets see what barclays have to say about me wanting £600 tommorow. :)

I just took a look at the first direct site and they give u £50 for changing your bank to them, and an automatic, fee-free overdraft of £500. I think i've scored?

Unless anyone else recommends a bank?

Yeah I am the kind of person who asks other people for help online all the time. I'm quite different in person though :p

i thought first direct was just a personal finance company? i.e. personal loans? If i was use i wouldnt change my account to an online company? Just go into the bank and say your going on Holiday and are looking for either an increased overdraft or a personal loan. There's no point in getting a loan for £600.00 (a) because the bank probably wont loan such a small amount and (b) you'll probably get a high rate of intrest on such a small amount, if you want a good rate of intrest you need to borrow more.

Ok.. I'm not fussed how muhc i borrow really if more means less interest then so be it. I'm strictly only going to spend £600 or so but when i get back from my holiday, would i be able to pay the money back straight away and avoid paying anything extra other than maybe the 1 or 2 weeks worth of interest? Banks seem like total cunts cos they just charged me £30 for going to -£12 so i wouldnt be suprised if they said I had to pay the loan back over a year, or if not charge me a huge wad for paying it back in a lump sum.

you could have just put away a certain amount of money each month from your wages over the corse of the year!

No point getting in debt over something so trivial!

    Shit yeah my time machine!

Be back in a jiffy!

    :p

I didnt know I was going on holiday until a few weeks ago.. I'd been planning it then couldnt get anyone to go so decided it wasnt happening then all of a sudden it all came together. Clothes etc have taken up my wages since then though so now all I need is some spending money.

If i was to get that £1000 loan, wouldnt it work out cheaper to pay as much back as quickly as possible rather than over 18 months? I'm planning on doing a college course in september so i dont want to have any debts.
