I was reading the other day that if service isn't as usual you can get the train before or after:

Fuck getting home, it's getting there that counts.

Where did you hear that? I'm reading on national rail that the best you can do is get a train 2 hours early/late.

The 11:15 was delayed due to points freezing on the bridge over the tyne. Anyone going past York and onto Manchester airport were told to swap trains and go over to platform 6. Were moving now and just got into Darlington, so all in all only delayed by 45mins.

Cheers Adam. Temperature's crept up to -2 degrees here now so hopefully the points problem will disappear. Our train's due at 18.40 so gonna get there for 6 and try and jump on the earliest one we can!

Yeah that's the train we were meant to be on. God knows why there were two trains going the same route but I'm glad there was. We're just pulling into York now. The snow is fucking constant all the way down like.

By the way when we got on the 2nd train, the driver came over the tannoy and said "anything that is orange, white and looks like a ticket is good enough for us"

    HAHA Tremendous!!!

Doesn't really make sense stopping the trains at York but then running another train from York?!?!?!

Must me something to do with the actual rail not allowing the train to swap. There must be another one on the opposite end of the station that can go onwards mate.

We haven't even had our tickets checked yet and were off at the next stop lol.

    Staffing?

If they are experiencing problems with delays and possibly cancellations they probably don't want their staff getting stranded over the other side of the country. So they will be using it as a way of getting staff & drivers doing the same amount of work but not on long legs. So the drivers from Newcastle area instead of doing a shift going from Newcastle to Manc then getting stranded, will do Newcastle - York - Newcastle? Just an idea and i'm probably wrong.
