    Morals n ethics..

Right dont get me wrong, I have nothing against Rozz n Phil, as people they are both quality, but should Rozz be judge in a competition in which Phil is a competitor? Not wanting to kick anything off, but its kinda un-sportsman like isn t it?

(Rozz n Phil, i hope u dont hold this against me, as you both are good mates:))

    Re: Morals n ethics..

1st off- A few weeks back I was asked to be one of the judges of this competiton, which I said I would be a guest judge (not every week).

2nd- If I was judging would I really judge in his heat? I dont think so! I didnt in the Promise one and certainly wouldn't in this one. Both me and Phil would want him to get as far as he could by his own ability, he does NOT need me to help him get through the rounds.

3rd- I should think by now on this thread, you would have noticed that ANYONE can vote as it must have changed since I was asked. Would it be that unfair if I took part anyway (as alot of people would have best mates/girlfriends there)?

4th- I wouldn't take this to heart or hold it against you, but I thought after the Promise DJ competition, you would know what I would do in a sitiuation like this, like I did before, I wouldn't judge his heat. I think suggesting me to be a bit "unsportsmanlike" was a bit unfair, especially when I never suggested I would judge his heat or judge every week.

i was just sayin... If say Phil were to have won the Promise DJ comp do u not think questions would have been asked as to the judge's impartiality? Same thing as if u were workin in a shop, and you served your mate at the till and the cash was down at the end of the day, people like pointing fingers... Personally i trust u and dont suppose that you would be bias, but not all people think like that...

I know its a bit OTT, but when two international teams play each other (in any sport), why is the referee from neither of the two countries?

Questions may have been asked, however, it was clear I didn't judge his heats. I think everyone attending the Promise competition knew that, as people would who are attending the Sunday trading one (they are generally the same crowd)! So if anything was said, it would probably be down to the whole sour grapes thing, which nobody would really give the time of day to listen to.

Also now, as the judging system seems to be different to what was planned, it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference!

Also, do you really think (due to almost everyone knowing everyone) that the Sunday Trading DJ competition could have all the judges they asked for without them knowing at least a few of the entrants in the competiton? Probably not!

Also for the record, people have moaned on about me and Phil throughout the Promise competition, Im not the only one who knows or is friends with someone competing! I dont think it would make that much difference if a judge had a friend competing or a partner. I have alot of respect for all DJ's careers in all competitons and have had to make alot of disheartening decisions, I dont make allowances for anyone and Im sure any other judge could back me up on that.

Just a reminder - the judging in this weekly compwtition is done by the audience. Everyone who turns up to listen gets to vote.

After two weeks trial, and some minor changes after listening to the feedback from those who attended in the first week, the sysytem is working very well.

12 january winner - Gareth Hocking

19 january winner - John Sinclair

When I played in the first week we all got half an hour each, so I expect the other rounds will be the same. The set-up was okay, nothing special though. 2x Technics, can't remember what mixer it was but it was okay too.

Only problem I had was not knowing how loud it sounded outside the dj booth. Someone had wrote on the top of one of my voting sheets to turn it up, but inside the 'cupboard' it sounded fine. I'll have to check it out next time.

Has anyone ever used the cd players before? What are they like? I've got quite a few top tunes on cd that I'd love to play out.
