    Ear plugs

Anything over 110db is too loud and can get any nightclub into trouble or shutdown by law. 110 decibels is the equivalent to an aircraft taking off. I've been wearing sennheiser headphones whilst DJ'ing since I was about 17 - nearly 10 years .......but..... when I used to work for a well known leisure company I was out working every single Friday & Saturday night for 5 years playing dance music for 4 hours a night. I started wearing ear plugs for clubbing (and DJ'ing) a long long time ago and believe me you need to start wearing something when clubs like digital have the sound systems setup right on the dancefloor in front of you.

During the ibiza holiday this year I was in Amnesia when some lass started pointing and laughing at me for wearing ear plugs....she came over and shouted "whats with the ear plugs" - my response "so i'm not deaf by 30" - her response "Eh? what?" - to which I said "exactly" and walked off. Nuff said really.

It sounds really stupid but you'll quite often find that the music sounds better with earplugs. Loads of clubs pump the systems so hard that it's difficult to pick out melodies, basslines, and other such things. Try earplugs and you may very well surprise yourself. You can pick up cheap spongy ones from any shop like boots or superdrug. I pick them up from work but if you wan't a proper set you can get them in clear plastic that mould to the shape of your ear canal and look almost invisible. A quick google search should give you some ideas.....

I certainly don't plan on being deaf when I'm older.....:)

For some sort of idea =

    HOW LOUD?
    110db+ plane taking off
    110db noisy nightclub
    90db loud pub
    70db city street
    50db normal conversation

.....oh and forgot to say that any employer with sound levels over and above 80dB should have measures in place to prevent damage to hearing of their staff members.

To give you some sort of idea

I wish! - I originally had a set of HD25 SP's but the lead on those is stupidly long for some reason.... I'm one of those who likes to have a rave whilst DJ'ing and managed to smash the headphone lead - oops.....bought a set of HD25's and never looked back - cable is a little short and I've replaced the spongy covers a few times but awesome headphones and piss all over the sony's, stantons, technics that I've used. I like the small cups and the fact they cover the entire ear to close out the outside world.
Even with ear plugs they still sound perfect.

(small cups are only a good thing for headphones though :D )

all the raves of the early 90s have definately caused me some hearing loss but its good when you want to pretend you havent heard what the mrs said

    anyway

    one rule these days

dont stand side on to the function 1 in digital

    stand behind it

    :) :) :)

theyll be able to wire hard rives into your ears in 10 years time anyway

Clubs also have to provide staff members with ear plugs and members of the public can request a pair if they want to!
