Not True... while there is only limited support for this phenomenon there is even more limited evidence refuting it... and it makes sense that when an exercising muscle requires energy the body will use the nearest source...

TRY LUNGES !! my b'f has been training for 12yrs and he's an x pro fighter so i asked him and he says for upper thigh developement and toning nothing beats lunges ! he says squats will make your ass bigger also as it builds the muscles inside them i.e they get bigger !! so stay clear... recommended are sets of lunges thigh extensions thigh lateral raises basic stretching ... :wiggle:
