Have you ever considered the fact that it might just be made up to scare fatties into sorting their fat fucking asses out?

Also, it was Alexander who posted it and didn't provide a link :dunce:

the 1st bit is true, but not for fat soluble vitamins/minerals

the 2nd bit isn't and there's been a lot of research done on safe upper limits for both retinol and beta-carotine...

but it can cause dry thickening of the skin, cracking of lips, conjunctivitis,
erythematous eruption = Redness/inflammation of the skin due to congestion of the capillaries, alopecia = loss of hair, baldness, reduced bone mineral density, bone joint pain, chronic headache,
intracranial hypertension = the pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) that surrounds the brain is too high, and hepatotoxicity = chemical driven liver damage. increased risk of lung cancer for smokers, possible increased risk of skin cancer.

and is one of the main reasons why we might not be trusted with supplements in the near future!

I'm impressed. Also slightly offended that you felt the need to expalin all of those terms!

Lowering the intellectual level a little, too much beta-carotene turns your skin orange also...

I realise that it's taken me a full page of replies to think of this, but surely the fact that Mal- means poor/bad in French means that the Malmaison directly translates as 'poor/bad house'?

Surely nobody would be stupid enough to call their hotel chain such a shit name?

Isn't there a difference between malnourishment and malnutrition?

I thought malnourishment is not eating enough, while malnutrition is not eating enough of the right things.

Malmaison's an archaic word for brothel/bordello.

They don't necessarily mean a lack of things though, they're just most commonly associated with it. Obesity is a form of malnourishment/malnutrition.

That would make sense, but still, a poor choice of hotel name given the contemporary direct translation.

Judging by your photo, I'm guessing that's the only action you're gonna get before you die.
