bollocks to that, i only earn £10000 a year now, and i live pretty comfortably. With the added extra 6-8 grand i could afford to buy a house easy.

you have to start somewhere, i reckon it would take me a year to get it looking decent, sell it on for £30,000 more than i bought it, and get somewhere thats a nice size.

Best of luck with that but I reckon you'll get a shock when you get your first mortgage quote (unless you go interest only).

i'm not saying i'm doing it, cause i don't earn 16-18,000, yet, but what i'm saying is i could easily afford it if i did.

You obvioulsy spend far to much money on shit if you can't afford it on 30,000

I never said what I was on.

All I was saying originally was do people feel they will need to earn bigger salaries than they thought they would to enjoy the standard of life they lead? I know I will.

For example ---> child care is ~£500 a month

With no family down here that is going to screw me.

your right but if you think about it 8000, is £666 a month, plus the 200 i already pay for rent which makes £866 a month. I know a bank won't give me a mortgage where the payments are that much a month. But thats how much i could actually afford if a bank would.
