i took 30k in my first year of trading and moved out the parents house and TBH i was a little shocked on how much it cost in total.

its not just rent/mortgage you have to pay for, bills can be a big factor, also the G/F is going for medical school and does not have a current job, so paying for everything for 2 adds up

granted i am running a ozone destroying car that takes just under £50/week in juice

i could get rid of it, but i like it

business is up 42% this year so far, and our busy season is winter, so i should take around 40k this year.

the plan is 60k in 2/3 years time, hopefully the G/F should be sorted for becoming a doctor by then, so its time to buy a mansion :king: and maybe a helicopter

Young people have less money than they used to because, in the main, they spend more on clothes, holidays, nights out, meals out, takeaways, cars etc. Yes, property prices are a bitch, but people also expect a much higher standard of living than they used to. When my parents bought their first they sat on orange crates and what little furniture they had was second hand or hand-me-downs. Nowadays people would be straight down to the sale at DFS and get everything on credit, then wonder why they are in so much debt.

What degree are you doing? Unfortunately most graduates start on pretty low salaries, but there is often a 'glass ceiling' that you will pass through a whole lot easier than those without a degree.
