    Use some initiative. I'll take you through it step by step;

    1) Go to the Evening Chronicle, which is www.chroniclelive.co.uk

    2) Select News, then click Todays Chronicle (where news stories are posted)

    3) Scroll down til you see Ash

    probably because its a local paper, not the telegraph.

    It was a Saturday edition - Saturday editions of the Chronicle always carry stories like this, and are decidedly thin on actual news and mainly concentrate on the weekends football action. What was front page news in local papers in Luxembourg today (if there are any 'local' papers?) - a country with a smaller population than Tyneside?

    Fair enough, didn't realise it was Saturday's paper. Even still, it's barely even a story, nevermind news.

    And as for Luxembourg, there's at least 6/7 daily newspapers that I can think of, in four different languages. And as for content, having the European Commission, the European Court of Justice, the general Secretariat of the European Parliament, the European Investment Bank, European Court of Auditors, the European Nuclear Safety Administration, any number of multi-billion euro banks/investment funds, and one of the world's largest steel companies all within a few square miles of each other generally guarantees there something to bung on the front page.

    Fair enough, I congratulate Luxembourg for having such an advanced economy, high GDP, amazing standard of living, and who can forget, being an important hub of the European Union - you have argued your point well.

    Your comment about Ash's story being 'barely even a story' is a bit offside though - a quick look at the Sun's website throws up the headline "SOUTH American townsfolk fear 'creepy gnome' is stalking streets". I personally find a story about a lad finding his Dad after 21 years much more interesting and heart warming to read than a street stalking gnome or a bung taking politician.

    I'd rather read a story like this any day than a story of someone getting murdered/raped/blown up. It's all misery in our papers and on the news, it's good to see something nice and lighthearted in the papers for a change!

    Spot on. Big news in the world of politics today - governor of New York admitting he's involved in a prostitution ring, big fucking deal. Ash's story has a lot more credibility and reasons to smile about

    People dont buy the chronicle cause they cover 'big news', they buy it because its a regional paper, covering regional issues and human interest stories.

    I'm a member for JFT96, so obviously very anti S*n, and News of the World for that matter. I was just making comparisons between the headlines of a national newspaper and a local newspaper. Anyway, very astute of you as always Mr Mitchell, you are always on the ball in regards to these type of comments
