How can they even be compared to the beatls when their musical styles are so far apart....

someone said they were far more important, this is a rediculuous statement when you look at the influence the beatles had on youth and music culture.

I wouldnt say that gnr were more important....the two influence completely different styles of music....However I would say that the beatles have had more of a influence generally but that their music is less technical and more basic than GnR.

the beatles were far more techincal than guns and roses, the melodic complexities are mind defying...

guns and roses is like musical wanking, just lots of fancy twiddling.. thats not techincal :p

I beg to differ...I'm not calling the little 'twiddles' technical...i'm refering to the complex chord changes i.e. coma and key changes....although I would have to say that the drumming and guitar playing from the gnr camp knocks socks off that ofthe beatles camp.....

.....but hey thats just my opinion....

    Oh and what melodic complexities?;)

I missed out and harmonic, as the two worked hand in hand.

The beatles approached music like no other band had ever attempted, they borrowed from a vast array of traditional, contemporary and world music....

For example penny lane as the vocal get higher and higher the backing music switches down a few... no bands had attempted anything like this.... and as far as true techincality and musical knowledge - the innvoation and intelligence in signature beatles tunes like this pisses all over the roses.

And I wont even start to get into their innovative apporach to instrument slection :p
