I got my decks at the tender age of 13, for all the wrong reasons, one of those reasons that i was into 'Rave' (Makina, German Hard Techno, NuMonkey, Waxa Tunage, Propa Leefal Vinyl hew), that was that until the age of 15 - and after that it was a slow but steady ween off rave and onto the better side of music (Trance, HH, Psy - the works).

then at the tender age of 16 i started to go to promise, which at the time was pretty much the only night i'd ever been to AT ALL. i was a good lad back then and kept it clean - vivid memories that all that went on (for a change).

learning curve from then like, nothings changed tho - i'm probably a radgie at heart - and still a shit DJ.

    Rock on

Started listening to 'rave' back in about '89 or 90 ..... which is .... christ .... 18-19 years ago.

It was all manky tapes dubbed off your mates dodgy copies back then, and the occasional cheapo tape from bass generator down on dean street.

I didnt go 'clubbing' till i was about 18 though, back when oaky and judge jules were playing at the students union and at sugar shack in 97.

Im still not bored of it :)

Went on holiday to Spain with my sister in summer 1987, where house was starting to be played in a few clubs over there. Then went 'proper clubbing' in the Wag in London in summer 1988. Plus the stuff that was just beginning to get radio play around that time like S-Express, MARRS, Cookie Crew, Technotronic etc.

Sat near to Richard Tulip in English Class his older brother and then Richard went to all the early Rezerections at the Mayfair. Was into Rap such NWA and Ice Cube plus Bits of Rock such as GnR,Mettalica,Nirvanna and what my parents used to play round the house Fleetwood Mac,Talking Heads,Rolling Stones and the Beatles up to then.

Then Rich copyied the Rez 10 Tape with Joey Beltram and Carl Cox on it Heard Energy Flash and it blew my head off and collected taped bought Richs old Belt Drives when i was 14/15 and collected tunes.

Went to Rez 1993/1994 Nye when i was 16 then the Venue and the early judgement days at the uni plus 8 more Rez's.Became a GabberHead as the early sounds difted away.

Went to uni in Preston stopped going to Raves as i hated Happy Hardcore and charvers,
Got into more house and techno and every other form of electronic Dance Music along the way Cheers Bugged out/The orbit/Lost and Voodoo.
Moved back to Newcastle Put on my own small partys started dj'ing for other people got into soundsystems. Been all over Europe to partys still love the music/partys and dj'ing.

Aye used to have the gloves and the white beeney hat.

Just was not the same when all the Hixxy and Dougel Rubbish came in. Thought the same about Judgement day as well but when they pushed what was to become the New Monkey sound with Dj scott and Selector C it was all over for me.

I can remember being 19/20 at Rez and Judgement day at the end and thinking i am too old for this.

Through my kid when i was 13/14. I used to listen to his sets when he was on the decks, he was playing Hard Dance and Hard Trance at the time. I went on to Napster (when it was free) for Scot Project sets lol and basically progressed onto trance as did my kid. The 1st ever night i went out clubbing was PVD at tall trees in 2006, just 2 days after i turned 18. I got my 1st setup in January just gone.

It was the same for me when Brisk dropped 'Time After Time' at Judgement Day - I was 16. All that cheesy shite took over the place. When I first went it was the same kind of stuff that was on the Bass Generator "Beavis & Butthead" tapes (And Mickey B - Zig and Zag :D ). Proper hardcore. Then things kind of went downhill. I might of been young, but I'd had all the Rez stuff since '94 so became disappointed when all the Bonkers style stuff took over. It died it's death after that.

I still have my Rezerection 'Event 2, 'Nightmare', 'Best of '95' and 'Equinox' videos in the house along with all the tape packs too. They're all converted to dvd or mp3 as well

M-Zone @ Rezerection, Equinox is still one of the best sets I've EVER heard :king:

**EDIT** So are the Laurent Garnier from Rez Event 2 and Producer 'Godspell' tapes!

I did not mind bouncy techno up to point but loved the judgement days when it was Rotterdam Terror corps in the main room and even some Jungle in the early ones.

I had the event 2 vid my mate got the Clash of the Titans vid with me on it as i was coming up on a double dove.

Went to the equinox to this day the scariest rave i have ever been too.

The Dj Paul elstax set from Banging Bunny was great as was the dj hype set from that one. It was also my last rez.

Rotterdam Terror Corps and Human Resource are the 2 best live acts I've seen at Judgement Day! Pyrotechnics were quality for such a small stage. Actually, I quite liked Q-Tex when I saw them too.....

Banging Bunny was the last ever one as well wasn't it, before it went into liquidation or whatever happened to it after that ticket agency didn't pay up the money they owed. Still gutted to this day that I never got to go, bearing in mind my mother worked about 5 of them :(

Your mam working at them makes me feel really old.

I quite enjoyed q-tex at the time as well as Bass-x and the other scott brown stuff.

Wished rez had stayed as Techno/Hardcore/Gabber with the early trance stuff from Mrs woods.

But things change and charvers love cheesy music and there seemed to be more charvers then ravers about by then.

I was about 14 when I first had a mix on decks.
My neighbour who was a few years older than me was into hardcore at the time (Rez, Judgement Days type stuff) and this is the direction I went for a few years.
I started to listen to trance and hardhouse when I was about 16 and got decks at about the same time.
I started off mixing hardhouse because I found it easier then I started liking trance more and more.
I've only recently started liking house more than trance.
My DJing was stricly bedroom until I met Ness, Fizz Mik, Marty etc.
Then we started putting nights on.
My tastes are broader now but I think Hardhouse is shite.
