sorry I was trying to be funny since I said i'd pay £5

evidently my attempt at humour has backfired once again.

i'd pay £4-£5 for a digital album tops and maybe £8 or £9 for a hard copy

but i just don't buy albums anymore - i think it's cause i listen to music differently to what i used to do, i used to savour an album, listen to it loads, get to like tracks on it that at first i didn't. nowadays, people want a quick fix, they want to like a tune instantly and if they don't it doesn't get their attention, which i think is a shame

You might be interested in reading this (as you're involved with smaller bands :) )

Regardless of the cost of creation, if your EP/Album is good and you utilise the "free" marketing opportunities available to you then you can still make a shit load of money. The good samaritan act (see Princes new album) raises the profile and massive tours can come out of it. Obviously Price was pretty fucking popular already but his profile ismuch bigger in this country now.

For a smaller example see The Chrimea who gave away their second album free and have since done loads of tours.

A huge majority of the Arctic Monkeys fame came through MySpace.

The days of paying £10 for an album are well over, record companies and bands need to adapt.

£12 at a push for a single cd album, although I'd pay more for older deleted things. I'd much rather have something to show for my money rather than something on my computer, but it's rare I pay to download anyway

Id pay about £3 for it. Its not the same as having something physical like a cd to hold and add to ur collection. When it comes out ill be buying it on disc as i have every other album too.

Cant wait to hear it.
