elise's are super impractical!! I suppose with a mechanic in the house it's easier but can you live with leaks, crappy wind screen wiper and the freezing cold (not to mention not being able to hear anything!)??

I want a Mk1 Golf Convertible

my first ever race in my mk1 golf (not convertible) was with a lotus elise....and i won! so what does that tell you? and the bloke congratulated me with a shocked expression!

If I was to buy an old Golf, it would be the Mk II GTI. I used to have the Mk II Golf C, which was a fantastic little car. They're buggers for rust though.

However, for around £7k I'd be looking at something like a Clio - reasonable fuel consumption, good safety record and low insurance group.
