    Give your head a shake.......

You sound like the man who knows just about everything!

I am so shocked by the utter lack of intelligence in your post that I don't really know what to say. Can you really be this silly??

Those bits of paper that you so blatantly disregard are the key to most people’s future.

You need to give your head a big shake to see if there’s a brain in there somewhere!

    In My Opinion!;)

lol chill people. You'll get shag-all nowadays without a degree, or at least a decent qualification. Unless you wana start at the bottom, that is.

I was back at college today :D

Newcastle College couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery, though. Had to be in for 9:00 this morn, one and a half hours of English Language, then nowt until 2:30! Jokers!

    Brain for hire...

What the hell are you going on about Steve? Have you totally lost your marbles? This post is one of the most ridiculous you have ever posted, I can’t believe what you have wrote.

You talk of experience; did you just experience spelling and grammar, as opposed to actually learning it in school?

I'm sorry if you find this offensive, but your attitude towards education is offensive to me, and to anyone who has ever studied hard in a classroom/college or university for that 'piece of paper'

You say you have learned all you needed to know after 1 year studying on a B-tech music course. I have just finished year 1 of my HND in Music Production; I learned a lot, but certainly not enough to launch myself into a music career.

Maybe when I have passed the BA top up, and have more studio experience under my belt, my planned career in music will gradually expand, but after a year? I don’t think so!

A few of the top producers I know have attended music courses of some kind or another. Several have degrees in music production and sound engineering.

How do you plan to get the 'experience' you need to become a producer, as you say you dont plan to become a DJ or study for further qualifications? Will you just swan up to a lable, Bonzai Italy maybe, and say 'I'm Steve Tyrell/Amici/whatever name you are using that day, let me produce your latest dance track because I am experienced and all my mates say I am mint'

I think not, in my opinion.

All year 1 Tech gives you is the knowledge to use more or less any piece of basic studio equipment.

I did NCFE Tech, then 1 year of ND Tech. I left after the first year because I wanted to study something more academic that would give me more career options, as Music Production is a damn hard industry to get into. Guess Iwas just scared of teh risk.

Anyway, apparently HND Production, which is the natural progression from ND Tech, is very advanced. I think after your HND, and then your 1 year BA, you would then have the basic knowledge to start at the bottom of the production chain. After all, it's like DJing, in that it isn't only about knowledge f equipment. If it were, we could all be producers. Basic use of equipment isn't exactly difficult.

I m gettin paid plenty, sponsored when i go back to uni, and am guarenteed a job at the end.. then i get paid to get a professional qualification by the time im 22... then i can pretty much pick which country i wanna work in... all coz i got a piece of paper...
