They don't have to prove it, if they decide you gave misleading information on the forms you would have to take them to court to prove you are telling the truth.

Is it worth the risk for a few 100 quid?

one of my parents friends has jus got her own insurance this yr, as shes always been on her husbands as the 2nd driver and she said it was really expensive, and she was in her 40's.

its all about the no claims really. every1 gets fucked over with their insurance in their 1st few years of driving... mine went back up to stupid amounts when i came to uni in boro too... apparently ts1 isn't a desirable postcode for the insurance companies... who'da thought eh?

They still need to have evidence you gave misleading information, they can’t just say "we think you might be the main driver so we're not paying out"

Read your contract, it's a civil matter not a crime so they don't need prove anything. You would need to take them to court and prove they were in breach of contract (by not paying out), are you sure you want to even attempt a legal battle against an insurance company?

All it would take is a nosey neighbour saying that you drove the car to work everyday and the insurance company would tell you to bollox (you could even get done for fraud). It's not worth their hassle to investigate these things for a £500 claim but if you put two people in wheelchairs for life they will do anything they can to not pay out the £100'000s it will cost them/you.

It's just my opinion but I don't think it's worth the risk for a few £100 a year.

    Re: Insurance this year.

i'm 21 and since i have been driving (17) i've been second driver on an axgt and a 19 16v. both these quotes were well under a grand. not sure if its illegal, as they can't really prove who is the main driver, but they certainly don't like it.

however, go on elephant.co.uk, and start the quote as your name, DOB etc, and then add a second and third named driver to your quote. Old coggers like mothers and fathers usually do the trick, and preferably if they have no claims bonus too. that brings your quote down considerably.

i'm looking for insurance for myself (with no no claims at all) n me mar n dar 2nd and 3rd drivers... me, 21, even with my 6 points, and my dads 3, on a 1.8 Renault 19 16v i was looking at less than £900. but I want a VTS.

hope that helped mate, its just best to shop around loads(which some ppl dont do and get gutted when they see what ur driving compared to them)

let me know how u do.

I work for Eaglestar/Zurich Internet part time. If u have just passed your test would def recommend taking a pass plus, we give one years no claims bonus for it, and will take a few hundred quid of the premium.

Would worry too much about the main driver thing, loads of people do it, and you would be very, very unfortuante to get done.

Always stick down the lowest mileage as poss, aswell, again no real way of proving it.
