thats bollox to be fair. Its growing massively in popularity at the mo and its not just growing from one area theres people turning to it from the hard dance scene, from the epic trance scene, from the hardcore scene and from certain rock scenes too as some psy really isnt that far removed from it.

It will definately be a lot bigger next year and nights will turn up all over the country. It will never be as big as epic trance was or house is now because its just not that sort of music but it will certainly start making an impact in the coming future.

Im not much of a fan of it at all to be honest. The rolling bassline at 150bpm just reminds me of hard house but its not all like that and there is some great music as there are in all genres. Im a huge fan of the ambient psy stuff or psybient if u wanna sound gay about it  Theres some really talented artists in that area and some great music.

your talking crap, when talking about getting bigger we're all on about the clubbing scene not top top10 charts, when was the last time a prog trance made it into the top10, yet progs massive with alot of djs making it in the top100.
And if your on about essential mixes christopher lawrence played psy trance in his essential mix last year, and infected mushroom are playing early 2006 :)

i think there'll always be a following for trance of some description, it gets passed on through friends and generations. Even if it gets smaller it'll still be there.

Sadly the likes of The Pig and Whistle dont put a good name to it and there is going to be a huge chav following as it works well in their souped up cars!!

(got Touch me in my car at the mo...loving it!!!such a chav!ha ha)

The Music at Vuzz was mint and the venue was the right size, however, the venue was terrible in catering for trance. The dancefloor was about 3x3 meters and basically it was at a bar. You can't play uplifting trance at a bar and expect it to be successful, the same night at a venue that suited trance would have worked very well imo. The main question is does such a venue exist in newcastle?

If a proper venue of no more than 600 people capacity was found and it was promoted properly/the right DJs were put on (I rate the DJs at Vuzz as the right type of DJs) then I think that it could be very successful.

I went to see my friends Brother (John Rowe) play at his night Cybernetix years ago and its psy-trance that he played...

i likened it to this 'minimal' sound - not a patch on the sort of Trance that i know and love and quite frankly boring...

No offence to anyone that likes/plays it but imo its not very good at all and if this was the only type of Trance the North East started offering i think i'd either move or start going to Ikon

trance is even dying in america now, and thats saying something...

the DJ chart is a reflection of the type of person who really really cares whether its pvd or tiesto who wins, a similar mentality to that of 'take that' struck teenagers...

the ones who vote sasha do so cos they realise trance is actually a bit naff, so they misguidedly vote 'prog' in an attempt to distinguish themselves from their a+b loving 'hands in the air' chums..

then the drugs start to do nasty things to their head / body that they can't handle and they stop going taking pills/ket/speed, have a reality check, go to a trance night minus the class a's, and cringe at the fact they ever listened to a single installment of 'in search of sunrise' ....

    >>>barney - you just made my day :D
