in the same way people come on here for a bit of banter and a laugh - you've also got to realise it's a PUBLIC messageboard which people like certain aspects of - the same few cliquey mates talking about how fucked they were/who the want to fuck isn't for public threads and should be kept to PMs/MSN - cause no-one wants to read it

How many threads about politics are on this board.

Maybe what you fail to see is that the 'laugh' and the 'banter' are being done by an increasingly smaller and smaller group of people.... and that anyone who isnt part of this little cliques just stop posting.

Im sure when this board is down to about 5 people talking about ket and afterparties, insisting that its just 'banter' and a 'laugh' ... we'll see who was right.

Yeah theres alot of people who talk about current affairs.... but in my opinion the absolute best days of this board were when those posts were being made all the time. The board was RAMMED.

Would agree that it appears to have gone downhill even in the short time I've been coming on (not sure if the two are related!!)

The main problem as far as I can tell is that all threads seem to rapidly descend into the equivalent of a MSN Messenger chat between 2/3 people, losing the original point of the topic. There's no problem with this but for those who know very few people on here in person (such as myself) this makes posting difficult, unless they wish to interrupt someone's chat.

Secondly many of the threads have become very similar, much as I enjoy Oasis etc's banter the sleaze and sex obsession has reached epic proportions. Similarly, the jokes seem a touch stale (pm'ing Scotty, taking piss out of psycoholic / Alonzi etc).

Lastly, the old promise crowd have grown up, enjoy different styles of music, moved away from the north-east etc thus there's not the same togetherness that there may have been before. The board isn't based around one night anymore (I get the impression it was during promise's heyday).

However, despite all that I agree with Marc that it's just a quiet time (although for a clubbing board to be quiet during the busiest time of year is worrying) and will no doubt improve again in the next few weeks!!

    what about freedom of speech?

and what you class as a pointless topic someone else may think is a great topic...

I think there are probably quite a few members who are intelligent, but unfortunately as Brid said, it probably doesn't seem worth posting that type of stuff as this board does seem to veer towards pointless but sometimes humorous banter.

I'm not really part of any in-groups on here but i do still like it for peoples mixes and reviews of new music.

    I hope it stays :)

Freedom of speech shouldnt be allowed when it equates to

    1. Someone writing a topic with pikey swearwords in the topic and an equally pointless post in the body.

    2. two people turning a thread into their own personal msn conversation and who fumbled who at someones ketted afters

    3. Outwardly offensive topics spreading hate and perpetuating the image of the north east as a brainless region full of racist thugs.

Ill stand by my comment about the best forums on the internet as being ones that are policed properly by decent mods who know how to balance the fun and discussion properly.... and getting rid of stuff that makes the place look like a club at kicking out time.

fingers out of arses the board needs politics like crack along with humour. lets face it it it was changed so you got banned for a sly remark it would be shit. changing it wouldnt make more people register, its just going through a dry patch as far as i can see. boring crack is shit but there has to be a balance :)

times change, ive never known this board to have loads of threads where people have had proper discussions about world affairs or alike. ive only been here since the beginning of 05 but i havent noticed any change in trend, with the exception of mois random threads which she stopped.

swearin doesnt affect alot of people. if every other word is fuck or cunt then it gets boring and pointless, but swearing in general dosnt seem to bother anyone

Its a shame... between 03 and 05 i would sit on the board all day and do no work cause it was more fun to post on here.

Right now i'd like to bet theres a load of people who just have a quick look at the front page and think 'a load of shit threads again' ... and move on.

Thats how i see it anyways.

that wasn't my point tho, if you look i removed those bits from your quote...

i'm talking about removing threads you think don't add anything to the forum - just because you don't like them doesn't mean they should go, this is a PUBLIC messageboard.

how about a 'serious' forum or something? then the threads wouldn't get overrun by all oasis etc's letching

    Doesnt it?

How have you come to this conclusion?

Ive got nothing against the idea of swearing at all - but like salt and pepper, you should sprinkle it around ..... not make it EVERY OTHER WORD AND IN EVERY SINGLE TOPIC.

Call me boring.... but i think its SKANKY.

I come on here mainly to download mixes and also to browse the geeks forum, and take the occasional piss out of the mackems in the sports forum :p

I'll post if I feel I've got a point to offer, of late I've felt that there's not much worth replying to. Whilst the odd post on a random subject does make me laugh sometimes there's people on here trying too hard to be funny (pscyaholic being one that springs to mind straight away).

I agree with a lot of what brid's put down before my post - especially regarding the gutter-mouth threads and MSN-style conversations that go on in the FAO forum - they should be pruned every so often (apart from masterpieces like the casy thread  )

No offence to coops, I'm sure she's a lovely lass, but half of the arse-licking and drooling that goes on around her on here is pathetic and it makes this board look like a collection of jess-worshipping saddo geeks.

    My suggestions:

    1) Ban alex before he gets a permanent shit-stain on his nose from having it rammed up jess's arse

    2) Go with brids ideas, no shite threads, fuck the freedom of speech thing, there's no absolute right to it in this country anyway ;) and have mods who can have a laugh whilst keeping the peace (to be honest we've got them in the case of Rob and nana anyways)

    3) Prune the FAOs every 7 days (I think this can be done automatically)

    4) Everyone put forward a couple of quid and buy trance_dj/armind/ whatever his name is a dictionary
