Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Junior:G any reports??

    No it isn't.

The best events are the ones where you hear music that you (subjectively) enjoy the most. If you enjoy trance, but don't particularly enjoy tech trance then it makes sense that you may not enjoy a predominantly tech trance orientated night as much?

"Sub genres" are just adjectives and an integreal part of communicating to people and describing things to yourself. I don't see what the big problem is, they are completely neccesary.

Just because a track is good it does not mean that you will like it (that is also irrelevent).

You can't possibly be trying to argue that things aren't subjective to peoples experience and tastes and that as a result they will be more likely to enjoy other things more than others?

Good lord people on here spout some utter crap.

For god's sake, it's a night out! I sometimes wonder if people have lost the whole point of it all.

When there is trance on I'm sure I'll be there. The point is that I've almost always seen sheridan play techy, so if you really enjoyed trance there is absolutely no reason to believe you'd attend what is likely to be more of a techy night (last friday).

I agree up to a point

The only way you suffer with that viewpoint is that you may not get to hear stuff that you dont think you like (i.e. a new sound)

I like some disco music but i certainly wouldnt go to Flares

the point is to dance to tracks that make you want to dance

pontificating about genres , styles etc wont achieve this

& 10 minute tech trance breakdowns dont often do this

    THE END

subgenres only exist to people who have an interest in that style of music

all dance music sounds the same to my nan just as all classical sounds the same to me, if i had an interest in classical then im sure i would discover subgenres in there

It just astounds me how much people can argue about this. Different people like different music, go to clubs for different reasons, either enjoy navel gazing and beard stroking or just go for a dance with some friends, etc etc.

We all know this. Yet we continue to argue about who is doing it the right way, who enjoys it more, whose type of music is more intelligent etc. And it goes round, and round, and round, ad nauseam. However, the aim for everyone remains the same - TO HAVE A GOOD NIGHT OUT! Does it really matter if people do it differently to you?

I'm all for discussion about nights, what was deemed to be good and bad, what types of music people like etc. But why the constant "I'm better than you" crap?
