It all depends on which model you go for. TBH stay clear of the GR/GS thats the 1.8 model. Its cheeper to run and the insurance is lower but its way to slow. Try and and go for a GPX or GR sport. The only differences are is that the GPX runs the 2 litre V6 mivec engine and the GR just runs a straight V6. GPX is about 200 bhp and the GR is about 170 bhp. All the models look the same unless you get the aero version which has a different spoiler ans skirts.

There mainly all tiptronic gear boxes aswell so u can run them as an auto or manual if you want. There arnt that many manuals kicking about but if u come across one get it because it alot less strain on the engine than a tip box. On the other hand japco down london do a conversion for £1700 including fitment. (tiptronic is only 4 speed aswell aposed to the 5 speed manual)

The parts arnt to bad depending what you go for. Standard parts are easy to come by and are pretty cheep, the performance parts are still easy to get hold of but like everything else cost more but are worth it.

I used to get mine servised at Vine Place for £70 exc vat and parts. came to around £100 but they have stopped traiding now, but any normal mitsi garage will do a service for you.

Insurance for mine is £600 with elephant.co.uk and thats with my lass on aswell.

Running costs arnt to much depending on if you thrash it, if your heavy footed like most cars your gonna use more petrol especially with the tiptronic gear box as uyou spend more time in kick down mode then anything else resulting in a huge petrol wastage, but its fun.

Bits i got done to mine didnt cost to much

Blitz sonic power air filter £240
Whiteline 50 ml all round lowering springs £170
    Caster it £40
    adjustable camber bolts £17
3G break discs front and rear about £500 (probably the most expensive thing yu will have to get)
Powerflow custom made full exhaust system £340
other little bits and pieces for mods are just about the same as any other car.

theres loads of sites that supply parts, body kits and mods for the FTO but its only downfall is there is not to many of them and if you want more power out of it your looking at a lot of money. I was qwoted £7000 for a turbo conversion and that was with out the rear drive converison, which you have to have done with it being a front wheel drive, although ive been told the manuals have got rear wheel drive already.

In the 5 years Ive had mine its never had any mechanical faults at all, only services at regular intervals.

http://www.envyperformance.com/ Based in the north east can do
    servicing and repairs

http://www.camskill.co.uk FTO specialists for parts etc
    based in cumbria

    http://www.hostileperformance.co.uk Excellent for performance parts
and advice. Closed down for abit
but I recieved an e-mail saying
they are starting trading again so
there website should be up and
    running again soon.

http://www.japco.co.uk FTO specialists, aswell as selling
parts they do alot of breaking so
they sell alot of second hand and
    reconditioned parts if you wanted
    a cheaper option.

    Hope that helps! :)
