Who are all the mods on this forum?

Oh & is it possible they can read PM's?

Rob (owner), Clair, Me, Jess C - thats it.

PM's - this has come up before - we can't access PM's as they're in the SQL database and not easily accessible. IN THEORY we could reset your password then log in as you and read them but then you'd know. We can't just view them if thats what you mean.

Plus every admin action is logged in an Admin log - which is/can be checked by the site owner

you think someone has read your PM's? Joe a while ago showed how easy it is to guess some peoples passwords...

Rob owns the server this board runs on - his goodwill and the small amount of revenue gained from the few nights that have PAID for banner space (not got it for free) have contributed to it's running.

No offence is meant to the lads running this night but bars like that will struggle to get licences when they are not active (dont show up) for meetings regarding the area/community there bar is based in.

I'm going to be slightly controversial here for a sec, hopefully without putting any noses out of joint, constructive criticism really.

I think calling the thing morning sickness was a bad mistake. When gossip had originally applied for the license they'd done it for an event called 'breakfast', and I believe they'd used the blag that they'd be supplying both alcohol and food for people who've been out clubbing and need somewhere to unwind / sort themselves out before heading home.

an after hours place called 'breakfast' sounds a hell of a lot more wholesome and unthreatening than something called 'morning sickness', which is advertised with posters depicting someone being sick on them.

bottom line, if you're going to try to push the boundaries, and run newcastle's first proper after hours club, you need to box a little cleverer than this IMO.

It's a shame really as newcastle really does need an after hours space, but it does feel like a bit of a rooky error, and I hope it's not fucked things up long term.

I've not actually spoken to any of the licensing bods about this or anything, this is just my gut feeling from years dealing with them and the police on such things, and I can just picture how the conversation went, particularly if one of the local ward councillors had found one of the posters (or more likely been handed one by one of the powerful local residents group who're very anti any more late night licenses around that area).

a bit more subtlety may have been in order I think. Nice try though, at least you managed to do one.

I deal with the major resident group in the area & they knew fuck all about this club night. The places that cause them the most problems are (in no particular order): The Acadmeny, The Happy Chip, Clayton street chippy & Eclipse.

    Here and there.....
There was a big article in the Chronicle last week regarding complaints by residents about the late licence this place had. And that was only a 3am finish or something. My thoughts would be that these complaints (even thought there were only a handfull) would've played a part in the council's decision to stop the 2nd night/morning @ Gossip before it went ahead.

I'm still a gutted the night was never really given a proper chance and I see Gav's point about the Morning Sickness name and flyer, but in all honesty they'd have just looked for any excuse to stop the night, regardless of how it was advertised.

again, it's newcastle councils thinking - bowing down to 1 or 2 letter writing people who MIGHT possibly complain that living bang in the middle of a vibrant city centre might "be a bit noisy"

Your wrong but I will explain it to you when I see you on a bus sometime.

Just to add these people are well aware of where they live as many of them have called the place they live in the City Centre home for over 20 years & expect/live with "a bit of noise". They are not NIMBY's either.
