if you move in with one or more students then just put them solely on the rent (if you trust them) then they are exempt from paying council tax and you get a tax free ride :D

of course i don't condone that kind of behavior though :tut:

I find it utterly hilarious how many people still live with their parents well into their twenties. Scared of having to fend for yourselves?

I've just pulled out of the house we were buying like. We've lost £350 each but I'd rather lose that than 20k when the house prices crash. :)

Hopefully they will crash and go to a more affordable price. It's a bit shit you'll lose your job like.:(

Maybe when you were young house prices were not so high and not everyone went to uni and had to leave home for that reason.

    Exactly

    1. I'm 21
    2. There is a reason why people can in no way afford property when they are in the middle of an apprenticeship

Tell me about it! They're a good thing to do but the money is shit. When I did mine I was on quite a good wage for my age. I think I was on about £140 after taxes. I mean, i could of moved out but why would I want to leave myself with no money at the end of the month when i was perfectly happy at home.

Most people who didn't go to Uni will still be living at home at 21.

    What's your apprenticeship in mate?

I have no excuses now though. I'm 23 and earn a reasonable wage and i still live at home. Although I keep going for houses and they fall through and now it looks like were on the cusp of a big property crash so i've pulled out.

I might just rent next year if the property values are falling.

You don't have to buy to move out, there is such a thing as renting.

I don't want to rent unless I really have to. I'd rather save up and wait to buy.

As much as it would be good for people like us trying to get on the property ladder I don't think house prices will crash, not up here anyway, even though there was reports last month of house prices faling they are still steady in the north east.

I think they will just slow right down, but no drop. Not on your average 100-150k house anyway, maybe the bigger houses, 250k +

I see what you're saying but once it starts going down it usually doesn't stop.

Who do you know that would buy a house at the minute? If no one wants to buy then estate agents have to lower the prices, then when they're lowered people see that they're going down so they still don't wanna buy. It causes a chain reaction that could see them go down by 40%.

If this doesn't happen then I'm no worse off really because i could buy next year anyway. It just isn't worth the risk at the moment.

Brids the man you need to speak to about house price booms and crashes. :p

ps house prices may not have dropped at the moment because the stock that was on the market from a few month ago is still on sale now. You'll need to wait a few more month before you see any big changes.
