its bein ran by rob orton (i think thats his name) the same guy that runs the PF shop in ibiza. not sure if its a part of PF but will get their records through them, and as far as i know will sell all styles of dance music.

global closings been on the cards for ages, jon mentioned it to me a while back, saying the owner reckons he could make more profit by keepin it goin as a mail order co, still selling the equipment but just buying it to order.

They're selling the vinyl they have left quite cheaply and they have a fair bit trance left!

Only went in global dj a few times and for the casual shopper its a horrific experience... dont feel sorry for any shops that make it as difficult as possible for the average punter to check prices or to see whats on offer.

Im surprised it lasted as long as it did tbh

global was a shit shop, no matter how nice the blokes who run it are. the equiptment was expensive, and there is no way they could compete with online shops. And the vinyl selection was shit, and pointless. they had no chance as a business.

They used to most of the trance vinyls that Chemical, Juno and Above the sky got at the same time, saves paying postage.

May be a bit more expensive but I would rather support local businesses. I can't go onto a web site and have a go of the decks and mixer before I buy them....plus you can walk in and get your stuff the same day without having to wait for delivery. I'm all for online shopping (I run an e-commerce site I gotta be :p ) but there's nothing quite like going into a shop and seeing the stuff for yourself!

why support a shop where theres no prices on the kit and what you pay boils down to what the staff think they can rip you for.

i know a lot of people who shop there regularly tho, enjoy the crack and find it a useful shop, if a tunes been released they always do their best to get hold of it for you. fair enough its not the cheapest place around, tho if you mention you can get something elsewhere cheaper 90% of the time they'd probably match it. and the prices have nothing to do with 'what the staff feel they can rip you for' the prices arent set by jon / dave, theyre set by management & decided by profit margins ect, as all businesses are :)
